2020 Lakers Insider Drops Shocking Truth That Could Rewrite Championship History

So, here we go again—the 2020 Lakers championship gets the side-eye like a cousin at a family reunion whose story nobody quite believes. Seriously, how has the NBA’s Orlando Bubble title become the sports version of the “dog ate my homework” excuse? I’ve heard the whispers, the scoffs: “It wasn’t real,” “No fans, no atmosphere,” “Too easy, thanks to the break.” But here’s the kicker—Zach Lowe isn’t buying any of it, and frankly, I’m right there with him. The bubble was a basketball crucible like no other, where every team faced identical, unprecedented challenges. So, why does LeBron’s Lakers ring keep catching heat that other champs never do? Maybe it’s the fame, maybe it’s the circumstance, or maybe folks just hate to see greatness birthed in unconventional ways. Either way, this isn’t just another trophy—it’s a testament to grit in the strangest of times. Let’s dive into why that 2020 title deserves every ounce of respect it gets.

Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers won the NBA Finals in 2020, they have heard critics say that it doesn’t count.

Even years later, some people speak about their latest championship as if it were somehow fake or not as challenging as other titles.

Zach Lowe has heard it all, and he doesn’t buy it.

He recently explained why the Lakers’ win in the Orlando Bubble is still just as important and real as other championships.

“If any other team and any other superstar had won that title, there would be none of this crap. Every team went there under the same circumstances, every team, same challenges, same circumstances, same hotels, same travel circumstances. One team won. And yet we continue to hear this… I think it’s totally legit. It’s different. That kind of makes it cool to me. It’s a real title. Stop disparaging it, everybody, it’s a real title,” via Zach Lowe.

The entire NBA was in a situation it had never been in before.

When the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a halt, the league had to decide what to do.

Instead of just calling off the season for good, it stopped everything for a few months and then picked up the playoffs in Orlando, Florida.

It was a secluded event, far from family and friends, and cut off from most threats of the virus.

Some people have said that the challenges of those playoffs weren’t real because there were no fans in the stands and all teams had a lengthy break.

But Lowe pointed out that it was still incredibly competitive, all teams were there, and the Lakers had to win just like every other team in the past.

The Lakers might be receiving extra pushback because of the popularity of their franchise and LeBron James, and Lowe’s comments likely won’t stop this.

But like many others, he believes the Lakers should be proud of this once-in-a-lifetime title.
