Marlon Humphrey Hints at Game-Changer in Ravens' New Defensive Addition—What Does This Mean for the Season?

So, here’s a curious thought: can adding a heavyweight like Jaire Alexander to an already fearsome Baltimore Ravens secondary be the secret sauce to turning good into legendary? Marlon Humphrey certainly seems to think so—he’s not just unbothered by the new arrival; he’s downright pumped. Picture this: a cornerback so eager to team up that he’s scrambling to find Alexander’s phone number after the guy mysteriously deletes Instagram. Makes you wonder if they’re about to cook up something special on the field or just share a ton of locker room banter. Alexander, once hailed as a shutdown corner but hampered by injuries and a few off-field whispers, now steps onto a squad loaded with talent and depth—no pressure, right? The Ravens gambled big, and with Humphrey’s infectious excitement, it’s clear this secondary might just become the stuff of nightmares for opposing offenses—if, and that’s a big if, Alexander’s health holds up. Intrigued yet? You should be.

The Baltimore Ravens rolled the dice to bolster their already-impressive defense.

They didn’t need to add Jaire Alexander, but he’s going to be a huge boost if he stays on the field.

That’s why fellow cornerback Marlon Humphrey wasn’t bothered or jealous about the fact that the team brought in someone else to join the secondary.

If anything, he was hyped.

Talking on FOX Sports’ ‘The Herd,’ Humphrey admitted that he was looking forward to taking the field with Alexander, adding that he even tried to reach out to him:

“Yeah, it didn’t matter to me,” Humphrey answered when asked if where he played on defense mattered with the addition of Alexander. “I was super excited to add him to the squad. I actually tried to hit him up on Instagram, but he deleted his Instagram, so I was like scrambling to get his number. And then by the time I even could get it, I see him in the building. So, I’m like, ‘All right, sweet.’”

Not so long ago, Alexander was considered to be one of the best defensive players in the league.

He had emerged as a shutdown corner and one of the most dominant players in the secondary.

He’s still young, and he’s showcased the potential to be that type of player when he’s on the field, but he has failed to stay healthy for the past three years or so.

There were also some alleged character issues in his final two seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

As such, the team had no choice but to part ways with him now that he didn’t have any more guaranteed money left in his big-time contract.

Still, that doesn’t mean he’s done in the league, not in the slightest.

Instead, he will now have little to no pressure.

The Ravens have a strong secondary, and Alexander can make them even scarier if he’s healthy.

They have enough depth to manage his reps carefully and make sure that he’s on the field come playoff time.
