Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Drops Surprising Truths About His NFL Dreams—You Won’t Believe What He Said!

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Drops Surprising Truths About His NFL Dreams—You Won't Believe What He Said!

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the dazzling maestro of the Oklahoma City Thunder, has already etched his name among the NBA’s elite. But here’s a thought — could this basketball genius ever hear the roar of an NFL crowd? Spoiler alert: nope. Sitting down with Jimmy Fallon, SGA didn’t just shut the door on a football career — he slammed it with a story about how a harsh hit and a quick exit from the gridiron convinced him that the hardwood, not the end zone, is where he belongs. In a league where some stars toy with cross-sport fantasies, Gilgeous-Alexander’s laser focus on basketball is refreshing — and frankly, a relief for hoops fans hoping he’ll keep lighting up courts rather than chasing touchdowns. Let’s dive into why SGA’s sticking to what he does best… and why the NFL might just have dodged a bullet.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder is an NBA champion and reigning MVP.

He may be one of the best players of his generation, but one thing he won’t be is an NFL player.

Unlike some basketball stars, Gilgeous-Alexander doesn’t foresee a future where he attempts to play football.

Speaking with Jimmy Fallon, Gilgeous-Alexander opened up about his past playing other sports and made it clear that basketball is the only one he’ll participate in.

“No chance. I wouldn’t disrespect them like that. Just like how they can’t come into the basketball court, I can’t go on the football field. I quit [football] very quickly. I played running back so I got hit a lot. I fell on the football and I got the wind knocked out me — I didn’t like that at all so I quit right away,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

Several NBA players, such as LeBron James and Anthony Edwards, have said they think they could be football stars.

Others, like Donovan Mitchell, have suggested they’d play baseball or something else.

But Gilgeous-Alexander is focused on basketball and only basketball.

He tried football but quickly found that it wasn’t right for him.

Luckily for Gilgeous-Alexander, he is a basketball genius and has created a marvelous career so far.

He moves with great speed and is an excellent shooter and defender.

He is the whole package, which is why he led the league in points and became MVP, Western Conference Finals MVP, and Finals MVP last season.

Gilgeous-Alexander is now one of the biggest names in the game, but only in this game.

That is terrific news for NBA fans, because it means they will be able to enjoy Gilgeous-Alexander for many years without any fear of him moving on to another sport.

Gilgeous-Alexander knows what he is good at and is sticking with it.
