Wenceel Perez – OF (lower lumbar inflammation)
With the Tigers outfield depth already decimated, Perez appeared to have the inside track on the Opening Day centerfield job before a back injury put him on the shelf as well. He’s set to receive multiple cortisone injections and remains without a timetable to return. The 25-year-old was transferred to the 60-day injured list, putting him out until at least late May.
Sawyer Gipson-Long – SP (elbow surgery, internal brace)
Gipson-Long required a left hip labrum repair in addition to Tommy John surgery. He’s currently in the early staged of a rehab assignment with High-A West Michigan.
