Matt Waldron – SP (strained oblique)
Waldron suffered a left oblique strain while warming up in the bullpen on March 15. The 28-year-old right-hander was vying for a spot in the Padres’ rotation. Instead, he opened the season on the 15-day injured list before he was transferred to the 60-day injured list. There’s been no word on his progression, but expect him out until at least June.
San Francisco Giants
Jerar Encarnacion – OF (broken finger)
Encarnacion suffered a fracture to his right middle finger on a diving catch attempt during Cactus League action on March 21. He underwent hand surgery on March 29, which comes with an eight-week timeline to return. The 27-year-old slugger was in line for regular DH at-bats. He’s started a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento and could join the Giants lineup in early June.
