49ers Executive’s Surprising Denial Sparks Questions About Future Trade Plans

The San Francisco 49ers — battered, bruised, but still battling — have somehow clawed their way into a three-way tie atop the NFC West despite losing defensive titans Nick Bosa and Fred Warner for the season. You have to wonder: in a league where edge rushers can flip the script in the blink of an eye, why haven’t the Niners pounced on the trade market to shore up their pass rush? John Lynch, the team’s savvy GM, recently threw cold water on those whispers, saying, “Nothing has presented itself that has aligned completely to this point.” But, knowing how trade rumors tend to swirl like autumn leaves, is it just a matter of time before the 49ers pull a rabbit out of their helmet? As names like Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby bounce around the rumor mill, the tension only ratchets up — and you can bet this story is far from over.

The San Francisco 49ers have experienced injuries to key players on both sides of the ball this season, but they have found a way to get into a three-way tie atop the NFC West.

Two of the biggest were the season-ending injuries to Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, who are arguably their two best defensive players.

Because of that, fans have wondered if the Niners plan on bringing in a high-profile pass rusher before the upcoming NFL trade deadline.

However, general manager John Lynch recently shut down those rumors.

“Nothing has presented itself that has aligned completely to this point,” Lynch said.

Star edge rushers Trey Hendrickson and Maxx Crosby are going to surface in a lot of rumors until the Nov. 4 cutoff, and while the Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly told Crosby he isn’t going anywhere, the Cincinnati Bengals haven’t revealed their plans for Hendrickson.

It’s unclear if the Bengals would be willing to move him now that quarterback Joe Flacco appears to have what it takes to keep their playoff hopes alive while Joe Burrow is sidelined with a foot injury.

This is also not a full denial from Lynch, who still has plenty of time to get something done despite nothing having worked out so far.

Get ready, because rumors are going to be flying all over the league until the deadline passes for this season.
