Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn’t True (1:28)

Deion Sanders was diagnosed with cancer.

The Colorado Buffaloes head coach announced via his medical team on Monday afternoon, July 28, that he was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the spring. Coach Prime made the announcement on Monday afternoon, alongside his medical team.

Sanders, 57, was diagnosed with a cancerous bladder tumor. He had a procedure to remove it and he has since been cured of the cancer.

Coach Prime also admitted that he didn’t tell his sons about the cancer diagnosis, because he wanted them to focus on making NFL rosters, rather than worrying about their dad.

Coach Prime has battled a number of notable health issues over the years, with this being the latest. But thankfully, it sounds like Deion Sanders is out of the woods in that department.

Fans continue to pray for him.

“Colorado HC Deion Sanders and his medical team announced that he had a bladder tumor that has been removed and Sanders is now “cured from the cancer,'” ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday.

Deion Sanders is entering a pivotal year at Colorado, as his top players – Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter – are off to the NFL.

But thankfully, he’s in better health heading into the 2025 season.
