Although we don’t want to admit it, Lee Corso is just three weeks away from his final episode of “College GameDay.”

Corso has been the heart and soul of “College GameDay” since its inception in 1987. Fans adore his humor, his headgear picks and his wholesome connection with ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit. While they’d love for him to stay on the show forever, they certainly know that he deserves to ride off into the sunset on his own terms.

“My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years,” Corso said in a statement in April. “I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement.”

In an effort to celebrate Corso’s iconic career, ESPN and “College GameDay” are asking fans to participate in an epic tribute for the beloved coach.

There are three rules in place for this tribute:

  • Wear your school colors and/or school logo
  • Record the video horizontally
  • Keep the video under 3 minutes

Fans are being advised to either share their favorite memory of Corso or send him a kind farewell message.

“The Legend Coach Corso was an assistant at Navy from 1966-68! Send in your messages,” the Navy Midshipmen said.

“Share a message with Coach Corso,” Auburn’s football team said.

“Bearcats, let’s help celebrate Coach! Send in your messages below,” Cincinnati’s social media team wrote.

“Trojan Family, let’s show the legendary Lee Corso how much we appreciate all the memories we’ve shared together,” USC’s football team added. “Submit your videos below!”

Stuff like this is why college football’s fandom can’t be matched.

There’s no question Corso will appreciate all the kind words he’s about to receive.

That being said, fans may want to consider watching Corso’s final episode of “College GameDay” with a box of tissues next to them.
