DeAndre Hopkins Reveals Surprising Ravens Defender He Actually Enjoys Facing on the Field

Is it too soon to say DeAndre Hopkins might just pull a Houdini with the Baltimore Ravens? I mean, here’s a guy who’s already carved his name into NFL lore with some of the surest hands the league’s ever seen — and yet, he’s not done surprising us. Sure, he’s no longer the jaw-dropping All-Pro from his Houston Texans days, but the Ravens aren’t looking for a repeat headline act every Sunday. Instead, picture Hopkins quietly sharpening the edge of young blood like Nate Wiggins, who’s eager and hungry enough to learn a trick or two from one of football’s finest catchers. It’s the kind of veteran presence that can punch holes in defenses and, just as importantly, electrify a locker room. So, can Hopkins still deliver those vintage moments, or will his real value be in mentorship? Either way, this offseason signee might be the X-factor Baltimore didn’t even know it desperately needed.

The Baltimore Ravens added a proven veteran to their WR corps in the offseason.

DeAndre Hopkins’ best years might be ahead of him, but he still has some of the best hands in all of football.

And even if he’s no longer an All-Pro-caliber wideout, he can still help the young guys get going.

When asked about that, the former Houston Texans star revealed that he loves competing against Nate Wiggins:

“I like going against all of them, but I would say, specifically, Nate Wiggins. I think Nate is a young guy who loves competing. He wants to be great. I would say Nate, just because him and I haven’t really gotten reps against each other and he’s a young corner and he wants to be great,” Hopkins said.

Wiggins has a bright future ahead of him.

Iron sharpens iron, and he will certainly pick up a trick or two from going to battle with one of the best pass-catchers of his generation on a daily basis.

The Ravens don’t need Hopkins to be the same superstar he was coming out of Clemson.

They just need him to turn back the clock and have a couple of vintage performances every now and then, and drive attention away from Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews.

If he can give them another pair of steady hands in the endzone and a little more than he gave the Kansas City Chiefs, he could be one of the most impactful offseason additions this year.

If not, having him in practice and helping the young players take their games to the next level will be more than enough to make his contract be worth every penny.

As for Wiggins, he could be in for a breakout year after turning plenty of heads in his first campaign in the league.
