Four Underdog Ravens UDFAs Poised to Shock and Secure Final Roster Spots
So, here’s a thought: In a Baltimore Ravens lineup that looks tighter than a drum, could some overlooked, undrafted free agents actually crack the final roster? It sounds almost like the NFL’s version of Cinderella — but as Jeff Zrebiec from The Athletic points out, four UDFAs might just turn heads and stick around when the dust settles. You’ve got Jay Higgins, Chandler Martin, Reuben Lowery, and Keyon Martin—names that might not have turned many heads during the draft, but hard work and grit could earn them a spot on John Harbaugh’s stacked team. It begs the question—does pedigree really trump hustle anymore? In a league where every inch and second matter, the Ravens are looking to push past previous limits, especially with Lamar Jackson leading the charge. As the season kicks off against Josh Allen and the Bills, will these underdog players carve out roles, or will they find themselves on the practice squad waiting in the wings? Either way, it’s a reminder: in the NFL, hustle still rules the roost—no matter your draft status.

The Baltimore Ravens are pretty much set for the upcoming campaign.
John Harbaugh’s team is stacked on both sides of the field and also on special teams.
However, as tough as undrafted free agents usually have it, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic believes four of them could actually make the final 53-man roster.
Per Zrebiec, ILBs Jay Higgins and Chandler Martin, S Reuben Lowery, and CB Keyon Martin could get a spot.
When Ravens training camp started, it wasn't clear if there was a room for any UDFAs. Now? As many as three could make it.
Safety Reuben Lowery probably is in driver's seat for spot. CB Keyon Martin has made compelling case. And ILBs Jay Higgins and Chandler Martin remain in mix— Jeff Zrebiec (@jeffzrebiec) August 23, 2025
Of course, that doesn’t mean they will necessarily have a big role or be starters, but it’s still worth noting.
It’s never about where you were drafted, where you went to college, or whether you were a five-star recruit or not.
This is the National Football League, and effort is king.
The Ravens are a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and as such, they can’t afford to have anything but the creme of the crop and the hardest-working players on the roster.
They will look to get over the hump for the first time in the Lamar Jackson era, meaning there will be no margin for error or tolerance for a lack of effort.
The Ravens will kick off the season with a date with defending MVP Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills; a tough task to show where they at and a prime opportunity to make a statement right out of the gate.
Whether one of the undrafted free agents will make the cut remains to be seen, but even if one of those four is let go, they will most likely keep them on the practice squad.
