Eagles’ Shocking Trade Revealed: Insider Drops Bombshell on Game-Changing Deal

Ever wonder what it’s like to have more quarterbacks than you can fit in a lineup? Well, the Philadelphia Eagles recently found themselves swimming in signal callers, parting ways with Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord, yet somehow still ending up with a pretty stacked group. Enter Sam Howell — a guy who might just be the stealthy ace in Philly’s back pocket. Insider Eliot Shorr-Parks didn’t just call this a decent move; he practically gushed over it, highlighting Howell’s 4,000-yard season and prime-time experience as the perfect backup insurance policy behind Jalen Hurts. Now, Hurts is the unquestioned leader, but anyone who’s followed the game knows durability is a wild card — and a high-caliber second-stringer like Howell might be exactly the cushion this eagle-eyed team needs to keep flying high all season long.

The Philadelphia Eagles had more quarterbacks than they could keep.

They parted with both Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord, but they still have a good collection at the position.

With that in mind, insider Eliot Shorr-Parks gushed about their decision to acquire Sam Howell in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings.

“The more I think about it the more I like the Sam Howell trade. [Tanner] McKee has high upside but Howell is arguably a better backup for this team. More experience, basically threw for 4K yards in 2023, has started some prime time games. Really good trade for the Eagles,” Shorr-Parks wrote on X.

Of course, this is Jalen Hurts’ team, and barring a shocking turn of events, that’s not going to change.

Then again, Hurts has had some durability concerns in the past, and a team can never have too much depth at the most important position.

More than that, the Eagles are an absolute juggernaut, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them up by multiple scores entering the fourth quarter.

That paves the way for Howell to take the field and keep Hurts out of harm’s way.

Howell got his opportunity to showcase his skills, starting all 17 games for the Washington Commanders in 2023, and it was a bit of a roller coaster.

Then again, even though he’s more suited as a backup, he can clearly sling the football down the field and make plays.

A high-end backup is critical for success over the course of a season.

Also, with McKee set to return from a thumb injury at some point, competition could be what both of them need to bring out the best in their games.
