Duke’s Recruiting Game-Changer? The Latest on Deron Rippey Will Surprise You!

Alright, let me break down this buzzing situation for you — we’re wading into murky waters here, folks. What I’m about to share isn’t hardened fact; it’s mostly hearsay and speculation, so keep your skeptics hat firmly on. Word on the street — courtesy of Big Red Louie from the Louisville pipeline — is that Pat Kelsey is zeroed in on snagging Taylen Kinney, a Newport, Kentucky phenom who might just be the nation’s top point guard. And, naturally, Kentucky isn’t about to roll over and watch him slip away without a fight — their pride about homegrown talent runs deep, especially when it pits them against their archrivals down in Louisville. Imagine the drama if Kelsey pulls off landing this prized in-state gem; it’d be like lighting a fire under Lexington. Now, visualize this wild twist: both Louisville and Kentucky duke it out tooth and nail but end up empty-handed, with Kinney heading west to John Calipari’s Arkansas. Sure, that’d stir the pot even more, leaving some questions about Rippey hanging, but perhaps Scheyer can work his recruiting mojo elsewhere. Intrigued? Dive deeper and see how this all might unfold. There’s not a ton of information here and most of what is here is speculative. So keep that in mind as we go through it.

Big Red Louie, a Louisville site, says that Pat Kelsey is all in on Taylen Kinney, who is out of Newport, Kentucky and possibly the top-rated point guard in the country.

Naturally, Kentucky is also very interested in Kinney and the Wildcats like to defend their home state talent against everyone, but perhaps most all against hated Louisville. It won’t go over well in Lexington if Kelsey gets a plum in-state player.

So while we can’t know how this will work out, this would be the most enertaining outcome: Louisville and Kentucky go to the mat over Kinney but neither manage to sign him…and he ends up at John Calipari’s Arkansas. That still leaves the Rippey situation unresolved but if he’s a clear #2 choice at both Kentucky schools, then perhaps Jon Scheyer can continue his recruiting magic.
