Packers’ Shocking Secret Revealed in Just 5 Words
So, here we are—Green Bay Packers, a team that stormed out of the gate like they’d swallowed a thunderbolt, practically flawless in the opening two games. Then comes Week 3, and suddenly, their ground game feels more like a gentle stroll than the force it promised to be. How did a squad boasting a power runner like Josh Jacobs end up sputtering on the Cleveland Browns’ formidable defense? It’s not like Jacobs suddenly forgot how to run; the real drama’s unfolding right up front, in the trenches. The Packers’ offensive line, cobbled together and battling injuries, has more holes than Swiss cheese, leaving their star back stuck in traffic instead of cruising down the highway. It’s a puzzling spectacle—an offense expected to roll but instead lugging itself across the field, begging the question: how long before Coach LaFleur’s tinkering brings the fix, or will this surprise stumble become the season’s defining narrative?

The Green Bay Packers have been almost perfect this season.
At least, that was the case in the first two games of the year.
However, there should be no shame in struggling to move the chains against the Cleveland Browns’ elite defense.
Even so, the Packers have had a bit of a surprising issue in the first three weeks.
As pointed out by Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, Matt LaFleur’s team has failed to move the chains on the ground:
“Problems with the running game,” Gagnon wrote. “Veteran back Josh Jacobs is averaging just 3.1 yards per carry, which is way down from 4.4 in 2024. He couldn’t move in Cleveland, which prevented the Packers from pulling away in a game they ended up losing. A lot of that falls on a struggling offensive line, although injuries are a factor there too.”
That’s shocking, given that Josh Jacobs is one of the best running backs in the game.
Then again, that also shows that the struggles have nothing to do with him.
The Packers’ offensive line has been a glaring issue this season, and they might not have the personnel to fix that.
They moved veteran guard Elgton Jenkins to center, and he’s struggled mightily to make the adjustment.
Second-year pro Jordan Morgan has been deployed all over the offensive line, but he has failed to establish himself in any position.
And with Zach Tom struggling with an oblique injury, things don’t look so encouraging there.
Jacobs is one of the most efficient backs in the game.
He’s a true workhorse who’s just too good to keep this up.
But there’s only so much he will be able to do if the offensive line doesn’t open up running lanes for him, and Coach LaFleur will certainly have to do something about that.
