Bad Bunny Takes the Super Bowl LX Stage After Taylor Swift’s Unexpected Exit—What Sparked the Shocking Switch?

Well, here’s something that shook up the Sunday night vibe: the NFL just dropped the bomb that Bad Bunny, yes—the Puerto Rican superstar who’s been rewriting the rules of music and culture—will own the Super Bowl LX halftime stage come February 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium. I gotta say, this isn’t just any halftime act; it’s a legacy-packed moment as Bad Bunny himself put it—a shoutout to his roots, his people, and a history that stretches way beyond the gridiron. Now, before you get too comfy, remember the whirlwind rumors about Taylor Swift negotiating to headline this spectacle? Those talks fizzled, reportedly over some stubborn back-and-forth, leaving the door cracked open for other heavy hitters like Adele to potentially step into the spotlight. Football, music, and culture are intertwining in ways that make you realize the halftime show is more than just a break in the game—it’s a stage for stories that matter. The NFL announced Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl LX halftime performer on Sunday night, during halftime of Sunday Night Football between the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys. The Puerto Rican singer will take the stage at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8, 2026.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement, via Variety. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Multiple media reports had previously indicated that pop star Taylor Swift was in discussions with the NFL to be the halftime performer at Super Bowl LX, but walked away from those talks, via Sports Business Journal. British pop culture journalist Rob Shuter originally reported the breakdown of the talks. Swift reportedly passed on the offer after the league “allegedly refused to give in to her demands.”

British singer Adele, who was reportedly approached about the halftime show after turning it down years ago, is reportedly being considered as a headliner.

Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for two years, and the two announced their engagement last month. During their relationship, Swift has attended two Super Bowls to support Kelce — one that the Chiefs won, and one that they lost.

Swift announced her newest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast in August. The album is set to come out Friday.

Outside of the Super Bowls, Swift has attended multiple Chiefs games in the years since she began dating Kelce, initially to great fanfare. The singer has since quietly attended Chiefs games recently, without being photographed or filmed entering Arrowhead Stadium. Swift was in attendance Sunday, per People Magazine, as the Chiefs beat the Baltimore Ravens in a blowout win.

Earlier in September, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said a Swift Super Bowl halftime show was “a maybe.”

“We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” Goodell said on the “TODAY Show.”

The NFL announced Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX on Sept. 8 last year. Swift passing on the job seemingly delayed the league’s announcement timeline.
