Cowboys’ Jaydon Blue Poised for Surprising NFL Debut Despite Painful Louis Vuitton Cleat Blisters

The Dallas Cowboys are on the brink of unveiling a fresh face in their backfield as rookie Jaydon Blue gears up for his inaugural NFL appearance against the New York Jets. After watching from the sidelines for the past four games, this Week 5 outing feels like the breakthrough he’s been chasing—but not without a few unexpected hiccups. In a quirky twist, Blue’s choice of flashy Louis Vuitton Nike cleats almost sidelined him before kickoff, causing blisters that forced a quick mid-practice switch. Yet, it’s not just about the footwear drama. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has noticed a marked shift in Blue’s consistency and hustle, praising the rookie’s grasp of the playbook and readiness to contribute. With key players like Miles Sanders and KaVontae Turpin absent from practice, the stage seems perfectly set for Blue to make his mark. It’s been a rocky road, sure—but that grit could be the kindling that sparks his NFL journey. LEARN MORE

Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Jaydon Blue is poised to finally make his NFL debut this week against the New York Jets. It’s a day that was nearly derailed this week after a cleat choice turned into a painful decision.

Blue, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, will likely get his chance to play with running back Miles Sanders and kick returner/wide receiver KaVontae Turpin missing practice this week. After having been a healthy scratch for the opening four games, the Texas product is expected to be an option for the Cowboys on Sunday.

Earlier this week, Blue broke out blue Nike Louis Vuitton cleats during practice. He may have looked good in them, but they didn’t quite feel good after a while, as head coach Brian Schottenheimer explained on Friday.

Apparently, Blue’s stylish designer cleats gave him blisters.

“A little questionable decision,” Schottenheimer said. “He went out there with some cool new cleats. Louis Vuitton Nikes. But they give you blisters! And so about halfway through practice, I saw him laying on the side. I thought, ‘What the hell happened to Blue?’ ‘Oh, Coach, I’m fine, I have blisters.’ I was like, ‘Oh, shocker. Look at your cool shoes you got.'”

Blue saw the error of his ways and changed cleats to ones that kept his feet in good shape to prepare him to play in Week 5.

Schottenheimer echoed that sentiment, saying that the everyday work ethic has been there with Blue after a rough start to his NFL career.

“I’ve been hard on Jaydon in the past,” Schottenheimer said. “Talking about the word ‘consistency,’ he’s been way more consistent. He’s showing up, he’s really done a great job mastering what we’re trying to do from a scheme standpoint, and we’re really pleased with it.”
