Texas A&M and SEC Powerhouses: Who’s Rising and Who’s on the Brink as Week 7 Looms?

There’s something electric buzzing through the SEC this season, and the Texas A&M Aggies are charging right at the forefront of that storm. After dispatching Mississippi State with a commanding 31-9 win under Coach Mike Elko’s sharp guidance, the Aggies have surged to a spotless 5-0 record, staking their claim among the league’s elite. The usual powerhouses are stirring too — from Billy Napier’s surprising upset of Texas in Gainesville to Alabama’s redemption over Vanderbilt, last weekend screamed rivalry drama and dominance. Georgia bounced back strong after an early season stumble, while Oklahoma maintained their impeccable streak against Kent State. With so much turbulence and triumph weaving through the SEC, the question on everyone’s mind is: where does each squad stand as Week 7 looms large? Dive into the full breakdown to see exactly who’s rising, who’s hanging tough, and what matchups might just change the landscape again. LEARN MORE

After another dominant performance against a Southeastern Conference foe from the Texas A&M Aggies, the Maroon and White reside as a top program in the league so far this season.

Head coach Mike Elko led his team to a 31-9 victory over Mississippi State, moving the Aggies to 5-0 in 2025. The team’s in-state rivals traveled to Gainesville, Florida, to take on the Gators, but the Longhorns did not leave the victors, as Billy Napier pulled off a miraculous upset over Texas in The Swamp this weekend. Meanwhile, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Crimson Tide avenged last year’s loss to the Commodores by defeating Diego Pavia and company 30-16 on Saturday.

Between the hedges, Georgia demolished the Kentucky Wildcats after dropping their SEC opener to Alabama in Athens in Week 5, while the Oklahoma Sooners took care of business against Kent State.

Following another week of chaos across the SEC, here is where every program stands entering the Week 7 slate:
