Unbelievable Underdog Surge Shakes Up NBA Coach of the Year Race—Who’s Really Leading?

Here we are again, standing on the cusp of a new NBA season, eyes glued not just to the players but to the minds pulling the strings from the sidelines. Coach of the Year—it’s more than a title; it’s a testament to vision, grit, and the alchemy of turning potential into performance. Last year’s winner, Kenny Atkinson, set the bar high with the Cavaliers, but as the fresh 2025-26 season dawns, the big question buzzes louder than ever: who’s next to claim that mantle? According to the buzz from Prophet X, Jamahl Mosley of the Orlando Magic emerges as the frontrunner, perched at +650 odds—but with fierce contenders like Quin Snyder and a cluster of dark horses nipping at his heels, the race is anything but settled. Coach of the Year is one of the most important awards given by the NBA at the end of the regular season.

Last season, it was Kenny Atkinson of the Cleveland Cavaliers who claimed the honor, but now everyone is wondering who will earn it in 2025-26.

Prophet X says that Jamahl Mosley of the Orlando Magic is the favorite to win Coach of the Year, sitting at +650 odds.

He is followed by Quin Snyder of the Atlanta Hawks with +700, JB Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons and Mike Brown of the New York Knicks with +1100, and Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets with +1500.

Mosley has been in the running for Coach of the Year before, and with good reason.

He is slowly but surely turning the Magic into something special, a squad that is building a young roster of talent that has been making noise in the Eastern Conference.

They haven’t climbed as high as they want to in the standings, but they have definitely gotten a lot of attention.

They could get even more in the new season, especially with the addition of Desmond Bane.

Bane may have been a masterful pickup who can improve the team’s offensive power.

If the Magic are able to become one of the best teams in their conference, it’ll be because of Bane, Paolo Banchero, and more, including Mosley.

There will obviously be some stiff competition for this award, and nothing is guaranteed to Mosley.

But there is no doubt that he’s the top name to watch right now.

A lot can change in a short amount of time in the NBA, but Magic fans are happy with their team’s chances right now.
