Unbelievable Stats Reveal Why Jordan Love Is the NFL's Most Surprising MVP Contender This Season

Is it possible that the Green Bay Packers have struck gold once again with Jordan Love, or are we witnessing the NFL’s next best-kept secret unfold right before our eyes? For decades, Packers fans have been spoiled rotten, thanks to legends like Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers — quarterbacks who redefined magic under center. Fast forward to 2025, and here we are, watching Love not just step into those giant cleats, but sprint ahead with stats that rival some of the league’s brightest stars. Honestly, I wasn’t entirely sold at first; questions circled like a buzzard at a picnic, but this season’s numbers, especially those juicy EPA metrics, tell a story that’s hard to ignore. Could Love be the linchpin of the Packers’ future for the next ten years? If his start is any indication, Packers Kingdom might just have a new hero to cheer for—and one that’s already making the skeptics sit up and take notice.

The Green Bay Packers have been extremely lucky when it comes to quarterback play over the past 30 years.

They found a gem in Brett Favre after trading for him from the Atlanta Falcons, and Aaron Rodgers ultimately became the superstar quarterback they had believed he would be.

Fans and analysts alike weren’t sure what to make of Jordan Love when he was drafted, and there were some questions about his ability to be the Packers’ starter for the foreseeable future.

He’s certainly answered all of those questions to this point in his young career, and his 2025 campaign is off to a hot start.

Analyst Matt Schneidman showcased this in a recent article from The Athletic, noting Love’s impressive statistics in the advanced metrics.

“Love ranks tied for sixth among quarterbacks this season in offensive expected points added per dropback, according to TruMedia (0.24). The only starting quarterbacks better are the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff, the Indianapolis Colts’ Daniel Jones, the Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold, the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson,” Schneidman wrote.

EPA is an interesting statistic to examine in the NFL, as it is often a strong indicator of the value a quarterback brings to their team and how much they’re able to elevate an offense.

Love is among the league leaders by this metric, putting him in similar company with quarterbacks like Allen, Jackson, and Goff, who are routinely in the MVP discussion.

It doesn’t seem like Love has the strongest MVP case through his first four games, but he has been incredibly efficient and mitigated turnovers, for the most part, so that could change by the end of the year.

For now, Packers fans are seemingly thrilled with his performances, excited that the team has another strong QB that could be at the helm for over a decade if everything goes according to plan.
