Tonight’s College Football Showdowns: Which Must-See Games Will Shake Up Week 9 Rankings?

Week 8’s explosive mix of upsets and surprises has left the AP Top 25 in a near lockdown, shaking things up but largely holding their ground—only a single position dodged the chaos. As we roll into Week 9, the college football landscape is humming with anticipation, kicking off with a Tuesday doubleheader that promises to set the tone for a wild few days ahead. This week’s spotlight shines brightly on unexpected contenders, notably No. 10 Vanderbilt, energized and hosting No. 15 Missouri in an SEC bout that’s buzzing with historic implications—after all, this is the Commodores’ loftiest ranking since 1937, propelled by the electric arm of quarterback Diego Pavia. Meanwhile, Indiana’s own resurgence under Curt Cignetti, now bolstered by a fresh contract, sees the second-ranked Hoosiers gearing up to face a surging UCLA team in a rare Big Ten clash — a testament to Indiana’s rise as a top-tier force. And let’s not forget the marquee top-25 showdown on Saturday in Norman, with No. 13 Oklahoma set to battle Lane Kiffin’s No. 8 Ole Miss. Whether you’re planning your viewing schedule or just soaking in the drama of the college football season’s rollercoaster ride, I’ve got you covered with all the TV and streaming intel you’ll need for Week 9’s gridiron action. Utter chaos in Week 8 brought a major shake up to the AP Top 25, with all but one spot remaining unchanged in the new poll.

What might college football bring us this week, with a two-game slate on Tuesday kickstarting Week 9?

It’s another big week for surprise College Football Playoff contenders, like No. 10 Vanderbilt, which hosts No. 15 Missouri in an SEC showdown. The Commodores come into the week with their highest AP poll ranking since 1937, with supercharged quarterback Diego Pavia leading a revival in Nashville.

Elsewhere, it’s been a full-on renaissance at Indiana, where Curt Cignetti has a brand new contract to show for it. The second-ranked Hoosiers welcome in red-hot UCLA in an atypical Big Ten matchup. Indiana has never been this high in the AP poll, but it’s certainly deserving of the nod as one of the country’s best teams.

The only top-25 clash this week will be in Norman, as No. 13 Oklahoma hosts Lane Kiffin and No. 8 Ole Miss.

The Sporting News gets you set to watch college football this week, with TV and streaming information for every game in Week 9.
