ORADELL − Steve Klein and Westwood closed the regular season by likely securing the No. 1 overall seed in the North Group 2 sectional football playoffs.
Klein, a senior two-way standout, ran for five touchdowns and the Cardinals defeated River Dell, 40-21, on Oct. 24 in the Super Football Conference.
Klein, a Boston College commit, scored on first-half runs of 54 and 8 yards for a 21-7 halftime lead, and he scored on second-half runs of 83, 5 and 35 yards.
Sophomore quarterback Bruno Vega scored Westwood’s first TD on a 31-yard run and Klein ran for a 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead at 8:30 of the first quarter.
River Dell senior quarterback Zion Yoon ran for three TDs. His 8-yard score in the first quarter pulled the Golden Hawks with 8-7, and he scored on second-half runs of 1 and 55 yards.
