Seahawks’ Defense in Flux: Which Two Stars Could Be Shipped Out Next?
Ever get that feeling when a team sneaks up on you, grabs your attention, and suddenly you’re wondering how they’ve managed to shake up the whole league? That’s pretty much the Seattle Seahawks this season—quietly formidable, yet impossible to overlook. With Sam Darnold still rolling as smooth as ever and Mike Macdonald crafting a defensive fortress, the ‘Hawks aren’t just playing—they’re making waves. But here’s the twist: despite their rising stock, whispers swirl around two defenders catching eyes across the NFL. Could the Seahawks really be tempted to part ways with key pieces like Boye Mafe or Riq Woolen? As teams start dialing in with offers ahead of the trade deadline, one has to wonder—are we witnessing the calm before a surprising storm in Seattle? Let’s dive into what’s brewing beneath the surface.

The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the most pleasant surprises in the league this season.
Sam Darnold has continued to play as well as he did last year with the Minnesota Vikings, and head coach Mike Macdonald has orchestrated a stout defense.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to hear that some teams are trying to get two of their defenders.
According to a report by ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Seahawks are getting calls for star LB Boye Mafe and out-of-favor CB Riq Woolen:
“Teams have inquired to the Seattle Seahawks about the availability of standout linebacker Boye Mafe and former Pro Bowl cornerback Riq Woolen, sources told ESPN on Saturday. Seattle hasn’t wanted to trade Mafe or Woolen, according to sources, but it will be interesting to see how aggressive another team might be ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline,” Schefter wrote.
It’s hard to envision any scenario in which the Seahawks will gladly part ways with a strong rotational piece like Mafe.
As for Woolen, there have been multiple reports about the team not being as high on him as they were during his breakout rookie campaign.
That being said, it’s not like the Seahawks desperately need to make moves.
If anything, they should be looking to add a little more firepower to their roster.
This team is going toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers for the top of the NFC West, and parting ways with some valuable pieces wouldn’t make much sense unless they flip them for other players.
Not many people thought they would be as good as they’ve been this season, especially after moving on from Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf, and Geno Smith.
Fast forward to today, and it’s clear that this organization had a vision for the roster, and everything is going according to plan.
