Insider Analyst Drops Surprising Packers Trade Targets That Could Change the Game Forever

So, the Green Bay Packers flag waves high at Lambeau Field—but beneath that fluttering emblem lies a pressing question: Can the Packers weather the blow of losing Tucker Kraft to a season-ending ACL injury? It’s never easy watching a key piece sidelined, especially when the stakes feel sky-high and the Super Bowl dreams are still very much alive . Now, with Luke Musgrave stepping up yet uncertainty lingering, the trade deadline looms like a ticking clock. Enter analyst Eli Berkovits, who’s thrown two intriguing names—Chig Okonkwo and David Njoku—into the ring as potential saviors of the tight end spot. But what’s the real cost, and could one of these candidates be the spark Green Bay needs without long-term strings attached? Let’s dive in and unpack whether these trade targets truly “make sense” or if the Packers’ quest for glory might just be gambled away.

The Green Bay Packers lost one of their best players in Week 9 when tight end Tucker Kraft suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

While the Packers have another talented pass-catching tight end in Luke Musgrave, they might want to address that position at the NFL trade deadline.

With that in mind, analyst Eli Berkovits proposed two potential targets.

Chig Okonkwo and David Njoku are essentially the only TEs I think make sense for the Packers right now. Either could be had for a Day 3 pick and I’d happily make that deal,” Berkovits wrote on X.

Okonkwo could be on his way out with the Tennessee Titans, as he has shown no chemistry with rookie quarterback Cam Ward and hasn’t been as involved in the passing game as often this season.

While not a star by any means, he’s proven to be a serviceable pass catcher when given an opportunity.

As for Njoku, he might be a safer choice for Green Bay.

He thrived in his first season with Joe Flacco as the Browns quarterback, so he likely would benefit from playing with a gunslinger like Jordan Love.

Njoku is a big target for the intermediate routes Love likes to throw, and he has reliable hands in the red zone, much like Kraft.

With the Cleveland Browns already having a replacement in rookie Harold Fannin Jr., Njoku could be available at a reasonable price.

Also, Kraft could be ready by the start of next season, so the Packers wouldn’t have to make a long-term commitment to Njoku, who is a pending free agent.

The Packers have Super Bowl aspirations, and they can’t rest on their laurels in the second half of the season.
