Arsenal Captain Odegaard’s Return Shrouded in Mystery: How Long Will the Wait Last?

Arsenal Captain Odegaard’s Return Shrouded in Mystery: How Long Will the Wait Last?

When you hear Martin Odegaard’s name, you think elegance, control, and leadership on the pitch — the kind of qualities you want staring back at you when the stakes are sky-high. But here’s the kicker—our Arsenal captain is limping, and the update from Norway’s coach Stale Solbakken has me raising an eyebrow. According to Solbakken, Odegaard is still “some distance away” from making his much-anticipated comeback. This isn’t just a minor blip; the knee ligament injury he picked up against West Ham on October 4th has kept him sidelined longer than anyone hoped. The whispers before the North London derby on November 23rd suggested a possible return, but now, that hope seems to be hanging by a thread. As Odegaard continues his rehab journey with Norway’s squad—eyeing a first World Cup in decades—his progress remains cautious and slow. Honestly, I’m torn between rooting for a steady recovery and fearing that Arsenal will miss his influence exactly when they need him most. LEARN MORE

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard looks unlikely to be fit to face Tottenham, following an update on his recovery from Norway coach Stale Solbakken.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is “some distance away” from returning to action, according to Norway coach Stale Solbakken.

Odegaard has not played since suffering knee ligament damage in Arsenal’s win over West Ham on October 4.

It is hoped he will be able to return for the North London derby on November 23, but Solbakken’s words on Odegaard’s recovery have cast doubt on that possibility.

Arsenal skipper making steady progress

Odegaard has joined up with Norway in a non-playing capacity as they seek to clinch a place in the World Cup finals for the first time since 1998.

“It is steady,” Solbakken said when asked about Odegaard’s recovery. “It is going in a steady direction but he is some distance away.”

Odegaard will continue his rehabilitation with Norway, who will qualify for the World Cup if they beat Estonia on Thursday, before they travel to face Italy in their final qualifier on Sunday.

“He will fly in [to Oslo] after his rehab on Thursday,” Solbakken added. “Then he will continue his rehab with us and will be with us from Thursday afternoon. I don’t know when the flight leaves. But he will be with us until Milan.”
