Texas A&M's 2026 Recruiting Class: One Surprising Commitment Defies Early Enrollment Trend

When a football program manages to lock down every single top-rated recruit in their class, you sit up and take notice—that’s exactly what Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting haul did this week. Twenty-six talented youngsters, including five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, didn’t just flirt with the Aggies; they sealed the deal during Early Signing Day. And just when you thought the dominoes had fallen, four-star running back Carsyn Baker made waves by flipping from Florida to A&M, thanks in no small part to the relentless efforts of the coaching staff. It’s not often you see that kind of loyalty, especially with powerhouse programs sniffing around, but Mike Elko and his squad managed to keep their commitments firm—no easy feat given the pressures from LSU and others. Beyond the raw talent, what’s truly gripping here is the early enrollment strategy: almost every commit is gearing up to hit campus ahead of schedule, underscoring the team’s hunger to make an immediate impact. This isn’t just recruiting; it’s a full-court press toward building a powerhouse that’s ready to roar this spring. LEARN MORE

What’s most impressive about Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class has been the complete buy-in, as all 26-ranked prospects signed with the program during Wednesday’s Early Signing Day, led by five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, while four-star running back Carsyn Baker committed to the Aggies on Thursday morning after decommitting from Florida earlier this week.

After the signing period ended, head coach Mike Elko, who deserves a ton of credit for making significant gains this summer with several of the program’s top signees committing early, and, most importantly, sticking with their commitments amid outside pressure from other programs, including five-star running back KJ Edwards being heavily pursued by LSU, but stayed strong with the Aggies this fall.

Texas A&M’s success on the field likely influenced a handful of these prospects to stay committed. Still, one of the names that deserves praise is running backs coach Trooper Taylor, who, along with Elko, made the final push for Carsyn Baker amid South Carolina and North Carolina taking their final shots this week for the standout back.

While Baker’s arrival at College Station is currently unknown, GigEm247 recruiting insider Joseph Hastings reported that 25 of the team’s 26 commits in the 2026 class will enroll early and head to campus in January, while four-star tight end Evan Jacobson will join the team this summer.

This is an impressive feat and further proves that the buy-in I was referencing has continued with every member of the 2026 cycle, all of whom are ready to hit the field this spring.
