NHL Insider Drops Surprising Hint: Are the Philadelphia Flyers Poised to Secure Christian Dvorak’s Future?
Christian Dvorak’s name keeps popping up when you start chatting about the Philadelphia Flyers’ future plans — and rightly so. The question buzzing around? Will the Flyers lock him down with a new contract anytime soon, or is he just a fleeting piece in their bigger puzzle? I had a chance to catch up with Anthony Di Marco from the Daily Faceoff during his TSN Radio appearance in Montreal, where he shed some light on this very dilemma. Flyers insiders suggest they’re in no rush to push an extension but aren’t looking to move Dvorak just yet, thanks in part to his growing chemistry with Trevor Zegras. There’s even talk of a potential two-year deal in the $5 million cap range — a figure that kinda makes sense given the team’s shaky center depth and pipeline prospects. It’s a fascinating situation that spells careful calculation rather than impulsive moves, with some serious playoff implications still on the table. Curious to dive into the full scoop? LEARN MORE

NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Won’t Rush a Trevor Zegras Extension
Host: “So just quickly on (Christian) Dvorak. What are the Flyers plan to do with them? Is he a great fit that he’s going to extend? Or is that piece?”
Anthony Di Marco: “Look, I think it’s funny. You say that I spoke to a Flyers source earlier this morning. I don’t think the Flyers are looking to sell at this point. I haven’t checked the standings.”
Host: “Just because it doesn’t matter, everybody’s so close.”
Di Marco: “Yeah, the Flyers have been a quality team to this point in the season, not like gangbusters, by any means. But I think they’re right in thick of the playoff race. I don’t think they’re planning to extend him anytime soon, but I don’t think there’s any plans to trade him, especially given his chemistry with (Trevor) Zegras.
I do think they are open to extending them. And the number that I heard tossed around today was two years and maybe around the same AAV of $5 million, and I think they’re going to wait this out closer to the offseason, maybe even past the deadline here.
NHL Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Not Rushing a Trevor Zegras Contract Extension
I don’t think even if they lose them for nothing, it’s the end of the world. But I think at this point in time, though premature, two years in that $5 million range, if he were to keep up his pace, it’s something that would make sense to the players, because, look, they don’t have a lot of depth at center on their roster, in their pipeline. It’s very questionable.
And Jett Luchanko will be at an NHL center next year. Jack Nesbitt is still a project and is a ways away. So it would make sense that Dvorak be able to keep up the pace of play, find that chemistry with Zegras, operate in that hybrid center kind of role with Zegras, and maybe walk them in for two years around the same cap hit number.”
