Brighton striker Charalampos Kostoulas scored a superb last-minute overhead kick to deny Bournemouth a rare away win in the Premier League.
The Greek teenager controlled the ball on his chest before looping a scissor kick past Djordje Petrovic and claim a share of the points.
Bournemouth had been rewarded for a fine first-half performance with a Marcus Tavernier penalty.
The Cherries were excellent in the opening 45 minutes and struck from the spot after Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen fouled Amine Adli.
Adli was in the starting line-up to replace Antoine Semenyo after his big move to Manchester City earlier this month.
Referee Paul Tierney initially produced a yellow card for diving but, following VAR intervention, deemed Seagulls goalkeeper Verbruggen had caught Adli on the thigh, allowing Tavernier to confidently fire the subsequent spot-kick into the bottom left corner five minutes after the initial incident.
The Cherries did not miss their former winger in the opening stages as they outran and outworked the hosts.
Evanilson ran through and clipped against the post, with the Brazil forward then heading wide when well placed as an out-of-sorts Brighton were booed off at the break.
The Seagulls were much better in the second half but despite enjoying 73% of possession they could not find a way to truly work Petrovic in the Bournemouth goal until the remarkable goal.
Kaoru Mitoma curled just wide, Diego Gomez had a couple of shots blocked and substitute Yankuba Mminteh hit a stinging shot at Petrovic.
Bournemouth were hanging on but were undone when Kostoulas, on for Danny Welbeck, hooked in.
