LSU Football OC Charlie Weis Faces Shocking NFL Choice That Could Change Everything
Charlie Weis Jr., LSU’s offensive coordinator and one of college football’s brightest young tacticians, isn’t packing his bags for the NFL just yet. Despite whispers of interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, Weis has decided to stay put in Baton Rouge — a move that speaks volumes about his dedication and the promising future building under Lane Kiffin’s leadership. At just 32, Weis boasts an impressive resume, having masterminded potent offenses at Ole Miss that averaged over 35 points a game, and with an NFL coaching lineage in his blood, it’s clear why pro teams are circling. Still, with the Tigers’ roster now reinvigorated thanks to savvy transfers like Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt, Weis seems ready to prove he belongs right where he is — at LSU — at least for now. LSU football offensive coordinator Charlie Weis won’t be leaving Baton Rouge just yet. The rising star’s name is sure to garner attention in the future, but after a dalliance with the Philadelphia Eagles, Weis will remain with LSU, according to a report from Dianna Russini.
On3’s Chris Low confirmed the news on Monday night, posting that Weis is “100 percent committed to LSU.”

Weis is yet to call a game with the Tigers after leaving Ole Miss for the Tigers, following head coach Lane Kiffin.
Young, innovative offensive minds are a premium asset in the league, and Weis, 32 years old, certainly qualifies. His offenses at Ole Miss have been among the best in the country over the past four years, averaging more than 35 points per game. He also has the family connection that NFL teams value, as his father spent several years coaching in the league.

It feels like a foregone conclusion that Weis will leave for a bigger job sometime in the future. He’s built an excellent coaching resume over his short career so far, and that’s expected to continue next season at LSU.

Weis and Kiffin did an excellent job of filling out the roster through the transfer portal, highlighted by signing the No. 1 transfer, former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt. If the team they’ve built performs as expected next season, the Eagles will be the first of many NFL teams vying for Weis’ services.
