Offseason Open Thread: January 29 – Uncover the Hidden Moves Shaping the Season Ahead
Alright, here’s the sitch for this coming Saturday, otherwise known as Braves Fest day—weather-wise, at least. Right now, the latest buzz suggests snow flurries could make a cameo across the region: expect a light dusting up to 2 inches around the Metro area, inching up to 2-3 inches near Lake Oconee and Augusta, with the real snow party (3-5 inches) likely from Athens stretching out to the mountains. The forecast isn’t set in stone—especially after Metro Atlanta mostly sidestepped last weekend’s ice storm chaos—but even if the flakes decide to stay away, it’s gonna be a chilly 27 degrees. And in these parts? That’s downright bone-chilling. So, if you’ve got Braves Fest plans, better bundle up, because bravery’s gonna be a must. LEARN MORE.
So here’s the forecast for Saturday (a.k.a. Braves Fest day) as of right now:
Realistic snow totals for Saturday:
– A dusting to 2″ max in Metro
– 2-3″ towards Lake Oconee and Augusta
– 3-5″ from Athens to the mountains pic.twitter.com/mNzCNBxNTX— Ella Dorsey (@Ella__Dorsey) January 29, 2026
Of course, this could definitely change between now and Saturday (especially considering how the Metro Atlanta area ended up dodging a bullet (for the most part) when it came to last weekend’s ice storm) but also OOF. Even if there’s no snow, it’s looking like a lock that it’ll be 27 degrees. I’m not trying to hear from folks who have real winter, that’s frigid for these parts. So yeah, if you’re going to Braves fest then you’re, well, pretty brave.
