Former New Orleans Saints QB Jake Haener has found a new home in Kansas City according to a post via his Instagram account. He also changed his bio description, which now read Chiefs quarterback.

Haener was drafted by the Saints in the 4th round (127th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. he was suspended the first 6 weeks of his rookie season due to testing positive for a performance enhancing substance that is banned by the NFL.

Haener began the 2024 season as the backup to newly signed veteran QB Derek Carr. After Carr suffered a hand injury in Week 14, Haener was named the starter for the next game against the Washington Commanders.

The Saints waived Haener in August 2025 however, he was then signed to the practice squad the next day. After being re-signed and waived from the active roster again, Haener remained on the Saints practice squad for the rest of the 2025 season.

Through 8 games and 1 start in New Orleans, Haener threw for 18/39, 226 yards and 1 TD and 1 INT.

The 26-year-old will now get a fresh start playing alongside Patrick Mahomes under Andy Reid with Chiefs.
