Notre Dame Makes Bold Move to Snatch Illinois’ 2027 Quarterback Recruit—Could a Major Flip Be Brewing?
Notre Dame’s gridiron ambitions are taking a strategic turn as coach Marcus Freeman zeroes in on a slew of 2027 quarterback prospects — no matter where their loyalties lie at the moment. Take Kamden Lopati, for instance. This Utah-based four-star talent, already pledged to Illinois under Bret Bielema since last summer, found himself with an official offer from the Irish this past Monday. Utah four-star Kamden Lopati verballed to Bret Bielema and Illinois since last July, however that did not stop the Irish from officially extending an offer to the quarterback on Monday. Kamden is currently rated as the No. 149 overall ranked recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 12 rated quarterback in the 2027 class.

The Irish face a tough battle to land Kamden Lopati, who was also offered by Michigan State on Monday as well as already holding offers from Oregon, Tennessee, and Colorado amongst others. However it was reported by On3 last week that Notre Dame quarterback coach Gino Guidugli went to go visit the quarterback (subscription required) in attempt to make a positive move in their relationship with the star quarterback.
