Yankees’ Star Pitchers Cole and Rodon Face Unexpected Setbacks in Critical Rehab Starts—What’s Next for the Team?

Watching Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodon take the mound during their rehab outings last night was… well, not exactly what the Yankees fans hoped for. Both pitchers, hustling in different tiers of the minor leagues—Cole in High-A Hudson Valley and Rodon in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre—struggled to find their rhythm, collectively surrendering a tough total of 10 earned runs. Cole, in particular, got walloped early, blasted over the fence by just the second hitter he faced, and never quite managed to shake off the jitters that followed. Despite settling down briefly with a couple of scoreless innings, another home run put him behind the eight ball again. Rodon, meanwhile, faced his own battle, allowing several runs and homers, painting a picture that’s far from the dominant form he showed earlier in his rehab process.
