"Joel Klatt Unleashes Fury on 'Lazy Journalists': You Won't Believe What He Says About Shedeur Sanders!"

In a world where college athletes are often reduced to mere statistics and sound bites, Joel Klatt is on a mission to set the record straight about Shedeur Sanders. With the draft approaching and media narratives swirling, Klatt stood firm against what he labels “lazy journalism” that attempts to tarnish the character of this rising quarterback. Some analysts suggest that Sanders might not be worthy of a top pick, drawing shaky comparisons that could undermine his true potential. Klatt, however, passionately defends Sanders, emphasizing not just his talent on the field but also the unique challenges he faced throughout the season. Is it time to look beyond the headlines and truly appreciate the grit and skill of athletes like Sanders? Let’s dive into this compelling defense of a player who refuses to let others define his journey. LEARN MORE.

Joel Klatt defended Shedeur Sanders while blasting “lazy” media coverage about his character and supposed draft stock.

On Tuesday, Colin Cowherd asked Klatt how he felt about Sanders potentially falling down draft boards. The host cited the argument that the Colorado quarterback is “probably closer” in talent to Jaxson Dart than Cam Ward and doesn’t justify an early first-round selection.

Klatt disagreed. The FOX broadcaster and Colorado alum called Sanders an “incredible” player who should go with a top-five or six pick.

He also criticized attacks on the prospect’s off-field persona. One anonymous coach reportedly called Sanders “brash” and “arrogant.” Josina Anderson rebuked the comments when sharing them, and Deion Sanders claimed he spoke with that staffer’s head coach, who said their Combine interview with Shedeur went well.

“The draft media, or certain individuals within the league who are never going to draft this player to begin with, start perpetuating these myths and these untruths about players stemming out of the Combine. ‘We didn’t like this guy. This guy is falling.’ And to be honest with you, I think that this type of storyline is lazy. It’s rinse and repeat every year,” Klatt said on The Herd (h/t Awful Announcing).

“You take the guy that is the most controversial in the draft, and then we have to end up talking about this exact subject because of lazy journalism and a big-mouth scout. That’s what happens every single year. But when you actually watch Shedeur, the guy is excellent.”

Klatt noted that many college quarterbacks look good when playing alongside a strong supporting cast. On the other hand, Sanders led the Buffaloes to a nine-win season behind a woeful offensive line and non-existant rushing game.

“He is hyper accurate in the pocket,” Klatt said. “He can create kind of from a magical standpoint and keep the play alive, similar to Fran Tarkenton.”

Some mock drafts have Sanders slipping deep down the first round. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein projected him to go with the No. 24 pick. However, ESPN’s Field Yates is among the analysts who still think the New York Giants will pounce with the No. 3 overall selection on Thursday, April 24.
