Georgia Football Star Arrested On Disturbing Charges (1:06)

A longtime college football and college athletics staffer has died suddenly at 56 years old.

The Georgia Bulldogs athletic community is mourning on Tuesday afternoon. An assistant athletic director of digital and production for Georgia athletics, who worked closely with Kirby Smart’s football team – which has won two of the last four national championships – is dead.

Mike Bilbow died suddenly over the weekend. He was just 56 years old. He was reportedly responsible for video board production, television production, social media and web content for Georgia athletics, according to the student newspaper.

The longtime Georgia Bulldogs staffer reportedly had a big role on game days, as he helped the fan experience at Sanford Stadium, one of the most iconic countries in the country.

The University of Georgia is deeply saddened by the loss over the weekend.

“Georgia Athletics mourns the loss of beloved staff member and friend, Mike Bilbow. Our prayers are with the Bilbow family during this difficult time,” they announced.

Tributes are pouring in.

“I had the great pleasure of getting to know Mike. He was always willing to help no matter what was needed,” one fan wrote.

“My condolences to the family. RIP Mike!” one fan added.

“It was with deep sadness we heard of the passing of Mike Bilbow. Many in Tulsa media remember him as a consumate professional in TV and video. He was brilliant, funny and a caring father of his two sons. At TU he was the father of ‘Canevision from it’s inception in 1998. RIP Mike,” another fan added.

“Mike Bilbow was an OUTSTANDING person,” one fan added.
