As another NFL Draft approaches, the Buffalo Bills find themselves at an intriguing crossroads. Will they finally break through the AFC playoff barrier that has haunted them for years, or will the ghost of playoff past continue to linger? With an MVP-caliber season under Josh Allen’s belt, the Bills have the talent to contend—yet, they still need a secret sauce to elevate their game. As they look to strengthen their roster, the team recently held a private workout with wide receiver prospect Dont’e Thornton, whose impressive size and blazing speed could be just what they need. Are the Bills on the verge of finding the missing piece that could propel them to their long-sought Super Bowl glory? Grab your favorite game-day snack and settle in—this could get exciting!

The Buffalo Bills have perennially been considered a Super Bowl contender but have yet to get over the hump in the AFC playoffs.
Last season, the Bills had the talent and depth to make a run but were again thwarted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
Josh Allen turned in an MVP season, doing more with less on offense and giving Buffalo a chance in all its games.
With Allen among the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, it’s clear that the Bills need to give him more weapons in the passing game to further elevate the offense.
Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid are solid players to build around, but the Bills could use another receiver to stretch defenses vertically.
With that in mind, Buffalo reportedly met with a promising wide receiver prospect ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
“Per source, the Bills have held a private workout and multiple Zooms with Tennessee WR Dont’e Thornton. He’s had great conversations with the team. The Volunteers WR has blazing speed (4.3) and elite size (6’5”). He’s a true downfield threat (21.9 YPC),” Ryan Talbot of NYup.com wrote on X.

Armed with multiple picks, the Bills will have ample opportunities to draft Thornton, who likely can step in immediately and help the team.
His combination of size, speed and athleticism makes him a tantalizing prospect, and it’s easy to envision his fit catching passes from Allen.
Thornton might not be the same high-level route runner as other prospects, but his athletic traits make him a worthy pick at some point on Day 2 of the draft.
