Reporters continue to dig into Jordon Hudson’s professional involvement with Bill Belichick’s career.

Last month, The Assembly’s Matt Hartman posted a screenshot of the head coach CC’ing his girlfriend on an email correspondence with a North Carolina administrator. Belichick asked the school to include Hudson in all conversations before getting officially hired to lead the football program. The emails appeared to lend credence to speculation of Hudson serving as Belichick’s “de facto agent.”

The Athletic recently obtained those emails through an open records request. Matt Baker noted that Hudson’s email signature identified her as the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions. 

Although The Athletic couldn’t find any records of Belichick Productions, Hudson has other documented business ties to the head coach.

Baker also discovered that Belichick applied to trademark 14 phrases, including “Chapel Bill” and “The Belichick Way,” on April 3. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office documents show he’s seeking the trademarks through TCE Rights Management, a new Massachusetts company that lists Hudson as the manager.

Baker described most of the emails as “mundane” and Hudson’s involvement as “minimal.” However, she sent North Carolina directives on how to announce the hiring of defensive coordinator Stephen Belichick.

Hudson asked the university to present Bill Belichick’s son as “his own established, credible entity as opposed to an extension of Bill.” She cautioned against them using pictures of Bill and Steve together to avoid accusations of nepotism.

“It is really worth emphasizing the point that Steve has the experience of being a COLLEGE defensive coordinator and will bring a plethora of knowledge to the coaching staff,” Hudson wrote. “I believe being strategic about the depiction of the Steve (sic) will prevent controversy and show upmost (sic) respect towards Steve’s career, validate Bill’s decision as a HC to hire Steve.”

On Feb. 13, Hudson also asked the school to address alleged inflammatory remarks on a social media page.

“Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it / blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” Hudson wrote on Feb. 13.

The next day, Belichick responded that he “cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.'” Robbi Pickeral Evans, North Carolina’s senior associate athletic director, responded that they found no instance of someone calling Belichick a “predator” but deleted and would continue to block comments about his personal life.
