“Exclusive: Inside Scoop on Abdul Carter’s Mysterious Meeting with the Patriots—What Really Went Down?”
As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the buzz around potential picks is palpable, particularly for franchises like the New England Patriots, who are looking to reinforce their defensive lineup. The team recently welcomed Penn State standout Abdul Carter to their facility for a dinner and tour, and by all accounts, it went swimmingly. In a draft laden with talent, could Carter—an edge rusher touted as one of the top two prospects—be the missing piece that helps transform the Patriots’ defense into a juggernaut? I mean, who wouldn’t want a player with the potential to claim Defensive Player of the Year honors? With the draft landscape shifting dramatically depending on the choices of other teams, the question arises: will the Patriots seize this opportunity to secure an elite talent like Carter, or will they pivot and explore other options? Buckle up, because this draft season promises to be a wild ride!

The New England Patriots added a defensive-minded head coach this offseason.
Now, Mike Vrabel could add his defensive staple in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Edge rusher Abdul Carter recently had dinner with the New England staff and also toured its facility.
“Abdul Carter’s visit with the Patriots ‘went well’ and the team feels like ‘they got a good feel for who he is as a person,’ per Phil Perry (of NBCS Boston),” Carlos A. Lopez wrote on X.

The Penn State standout is considered to be the best or second-best prospect in this draft, with Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter as the only player who could take that distinction away from him.
Most mock drafts have the Cleveland Browns selecting Hunter at No. 2 overall, which would leave the door wide open for the New York Giants to take their quarterback of the future in Shedeur Sanders at No. 3.
In that scenario, drafting Carter would be an easy decision for the Patriots, who would be getting an elite pass rusher with the potential to be a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
The picture would change drastically if the Giants don’t draft Sanders.
If that’s the case, the Patriots could look to bolster their offensive line with Will Cambpell or Armand Membou, or they could go after Ashton Jeanty, the projected best running back in this class.
This is a good problem to have, as it seems like New England can’t go wrong with any of the top prospects.
Then again, given his sky-high upside and physical tools, fans might be crossing their fingers to get Carter.
