Michigan Fan's Epic Sign at WrestleMania 41 Leaves Entire Arena Laughing

Here’s a brief take on the crossover we saw between college football and wrestling. Ever think you’d see a tale as old as time—the Michigan vs. Ohio State rivalry—played out beyond the gridiron, right in the heart of pro wrestling mania? Feels like the fanbases are definitely more like two peas in a pod than we might’ve thought.

Now, about this weekend’s WrestleMania? It’s not just about the in-ring drama; it’s turning into a spectacle of college football rivalry, with signs mocking OSU’s winless streak against Michigan now finding their way into the stands of Allegiant Stadium. But this one is not for the OG fans—looks like Wolverine superfan , none other than Tom Brady, would probably appreciate this little jibe at his Alma Mater’ ex rival ,

At first glance, it may not seem that there’s a lot of overlap between professional wrestling fans and college football fans. Taking a deeper look shows that isn’t the case.

Both fanbases support their favorites with unbridled passion, and they pack stadiums to see the culmination of years-long rivalries. 

Over 100,000 fans will be at Allegiant Stadium this weekend in Las Vegas to see WrestleMania, and one big time college football fan took the opportunity to poke fun at a rival school in the process.

During Saturday’s opening match between Gunther and Jey Uso for the World Heavyweight Championship, a Michigan fan held up a sign that read “1,967 days since OSU beat Michigan” at the home of the Las Vegas Raiders.

At least one Michigan fan with ties to the Raiders will likely appreciate the sign – former Wolverines quarterback and Raiders minority owner Tom Brady.

The Wolverines indeed hold a massive winning streak over the Buckeyes that has lasted for the last few years. They’ve prevented Ohio State from competing for and winning the Big Ten title by beating them for the last four years, and those victories have propelled Michigan to the top of college football.

The Wolverines won the national championship two seasons ago, defeating Ohio State in their final regular season game. After beating Ohio State that year, Michigan would go on to win the Big Ten title before beating both Alabama and Washington in the College Football Playoff.

Ohio State wasn’t able to capture a win over Michigan this year, but they outlasted 11 other teams in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff. The Buckeyes took down Tennessee in the first round, Oregon in the quarterfinals, Texas in the semifinal and Notre Dame in the national championship game.

The victory was a moment of vindication for Ohio State head coach Ryan Day after years of criticism, but he will likely never be able to overcome a negative record against the Wolverines.

If the rivalry is big enough to cross over outside of college football itself and into professional wrestling, it’s certainly on the mind of every fan, player and coach involved.
