A man who had gone missing in a Big Ten university town has been found dead.
He was just 46 years old.
The man had gone missing a couple of days ago, before he was ultimately found dead. Stephen Shimmel, a State College, Pennsylvania man, was found dead on Thursday. Police confirmed his death on Friday.
State College, which is home to Penn State University, is saddened by his loss.

The 46-year-old had last been seen on Sunday evening in State College and police issued a missing person advisory on Wednesday.
In asking for the public’s help locating Shimmel, police said they were attempting to check on his welfare. He had last been seen carrying a portable oxygen tank.
Police did not indicate in the release where Shimmel was found. The department and the Centre County Coroner’s Office did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
