Unprecedented Hype: Gatorade Drops Shedeur Sanders' Ad Just Before NFL Draft
Ever wondered what happens when the world of sports collides with the sizzle of showbiz? Meet Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback with not just the talent for passing but also a flair for drama, including soon-to-be family ties to R&B stardom through his sister’s engagement to an emerging musician. Shedeur has all eyes on him, just like his family, and like the new Gatorade commercial spotlights, he’s not about to let that target slip off his back.

His charisma, ambition, and sheer grit have led some to laud him as a top NFL draft pick. Yet, with great potential comes great scrutiny—can he truly carry the weight of hype from college to the NFL’s big leagues? Gonna be honest, Shedeur has had quite the rollercoaster ride from an anticipated third-overall pick to… well, uncertainty on draft day.
But hey, here he’s gearing up for the 2025 NFL Draft with one of the biggest names in sports hydration positioning him as their new face. His latest ad campaign has folks talking–will he really seal the deal, or will his brand, already high on ‘aura’, end up fizzing out before the champagne even pops?
It’s been a hot minute since there was a quarterback prospect as polarizing as Shedeur Sanders. Some believe believe he could be a top three NFL Draft pick while others believe he may not be taken in the first round at all – and everything in-between.Â
But regardless of where he gets drafted tomorrow (or Friday), Shedeur already has his brand ready-built. And he’s starting things off with one of the most iconic sports-adjacent brands in the world: Gatorade.
On Wednesday, Gatorade released a new 30-second ad featuring Shedeur ahead of tomorrow’s NFL Draft. In the ad, Sanders throws footballs at a target while declaring that he won’t lose “the target that I have on my back.”
“Lose time. Lose friends. Lose nights. Lose mornings. Lose more sweat than I knew I had. But lose the target that I have on my back? Nah,” he says.

It’s a decent ad, but users on social media have had some mixed reactions due to the mixed opinions on where he’ll be drafted:
“This is going to very awkward if he goes late 1st or early 2nd,” one user remarked.
“Get that bag before being a bust,” wrote another.
“So much aura,” a third said with optimism.
“Orange Gatorade = Cleveland Browns,” a fourth mused.
“I wish he was as good as the amount of aura he has man it would be a perfect match.”
“My god the edit here is so bad. They couldn’t just have him actually hit the target 6 times in a row?”
Shedeur Sanders became one of the most accurate quarterbacks in college football history during his two-year run at Colorado that culminated in the team’s first 9-win season since 2016.
But in the months since the end of his career – and if we’re being honest, all throughout his college career – Sanders has been dismissed by a number of scouts and executives as a prospect who won’t be able to live up to the hype at the NFL level.
Just a few months ago it looked like Sanders might go No. 3 overall to the New York Giants. Now we’re not so sure.
Will Sanders hear his name called on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft?
