The Philadelphia Eagles selected former Ohio State and Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord with the 181st overall pick. To make matters more interesting, McCord was selected before his replacement – the national championship-winning Will Howard.
Fans commented on the irony during the draft Saturday.

“Kyle McCord drafted ahead of Will Howard… now I have to scroll through my bookmarks, because I’m owed over $1,000 from bets made with Buckeye fans,” one fan said.
“need to know if Howie [Roseman] stole Kyle McCord from the Steelers pick 181: Kyle McCord to PHI pick 185: Will Howard to PIT,” said Warren Sharp.
“Kyle McCord being drafted before Will Howard is ludicrous When Ohio State upgraded from the former to the latter they won the national championship lol,” said another fan.
“Will Howard picked by Pittsburgh. Howard and Kyle McCord must remain connected for all eternity,” one fan noted.
“Kyle McCord got selected before National Championship winner Will Howard?!?!?!,” another fan asked in disbelief.
“Kyle McCord b4 Will Howard? WTF take it from a Buckeye fan, McCord is garbage,” said one fan.
“Kyle McCord got drafted before Will Howard. Proving again what I’ve been saying for months. Kyle McCord > Will Howard,” one Michigan fan said, antagonizing Ohio State supporters.
McCord started one season at Ohio State, going 11-1 in 12 starts. The lone loss was against Michigan, and knocked the Buckeyes out of contention for the Big Ten championship and the College Football Playoff.
Howard arrived in Columbus last year via the transfer portal, while McCord transferred to Syracuse. Howard helped Ohio State win the national championship in the first-ever 12-team playoff.
McCord played well at Syracuse, going 10-3 in 13 starts. He threw for nearly 4,800 yards and 34 touchdowns for the Orange as well – both career bests.
We’ll see what the NFL has in store for both of these former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterbacks.
