You Won’t Believe Which Rising NBA Star Colin Cowherd Claims Is the Best Young Player Right Now

Here’s a little something for you to chew on: when the NBA’s brightest young guns step onto the hardwood, who truly reigns supreme? Sure, Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant, and Luka Doncic all bring the sizzle — the kind of highlight-reel fuel that gets fans on their feet and commentators buzzing. But then along comes Colin Cowherd, who doesn’t just toss out opinions — he drops a bombshell, naming Edwards the undisputed king of youth in the league . Now, that’s not your everyday hot take. Watching “Ant” square off with LeBron and shrug off the challenge like it’s a mere warm-up? That’s the kind of confidence that separates the merely talented from the transcendent. So, is Edwards just another blazing comet or the next franchise face destined to shine for years to come? Buckle up—it’s storytelling with some serious star power behind it.

The NBA’s hunt for its next face of the franchise has narrowed down to a few electrifying young stars, and Anthony Edwards, Ja Morant, and Luka Doncic have emerged as frontrunners.

Each brings their unique flair to the hardwood, dazzling fans with highlight-reel plays and undeniable confidence.

For Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd, however, there’s simply no debate about who stands tallest among this new generation of talent.

“Ant (Anthony Edwards) is officially the best young player in the game. Did you see him battling LeBron? He’s like, ‘I got LeBron.’ Did you see that wrestling match? You’re not getting that from Luka (Doncic) on the defensive end,” Cowherd declared on his show The Herd.

What makes Edwards special isn’t just his scoring ability.

While he’s always been a terror at the rim with his explosive drives and thunderous dunks, this season has showcased his growth into a more complete player.

Following the time-honored tradition of NBA greats, Edwards dedicated himself to expanding his arsenal during the offseason.

The results speak volumes. His outside shooting has become just as threatening as his inside game. His defense now matches his offensive output, challenging even the greatest players head-on.

And at just 23 years old, his ceiling remains tantalizingly high—the kind of trajectory that basketball dreams are made of.

Edwards recently backed up the hype with a masterful 43-point performance that lifted the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Los Angeles Lakers 116-113 in Game 4 of their playoff series.

Going 12-for-23 from the field, he added nine rebounds and six assists to his stat line, helping Minnesota secure a commanding 3-1 lead in the Western Conference quarterfinals.

With momentum firmly on their side, Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves now head to Los Angeles for Wednesday’s Game 5, looking to close out the series and continue their impressive playoff run.
