College football fans have been keeping Colorado coach Deion Sanders in their prayers this week.
It was revealed by Deion Jr. on a YouTube stream that Coach Prime is dealing with a health-related issue. According to ESPN, the Hall of Famer was resting up in Texas. The timing is a bit unfortunate since Colorado’s annual summer football camps started last week.
“He’ll tell y’all soon enough what he’s going through, what he went through,” Deion Jr. stated, according to USA Today. “When we get back to Boulder, I don’t know. I’m waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I’ll go. Until then, I’m going to sit here with him.”
On Wednesday morning, Sanders addressed all the speculation surrounding his health. He let fans know that he appreciates all the prayers and well wishes.
“Wow, I am truly blessed for the abundance of well wishes, for all the thoughts and all of the prayers. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU,” Sanders wrote on social media. “I can assure you all that everything is OKAY and will continue to be so. God got me like no other. I have so much more work to do to Glorify God so please believe God got me!
“I’m excited to get back to Colorado to be at home with my staff, team & all associated to our program. When we arrive back to Boulder you will be updated on everything. Until then, I’M COMING BABY.”
A timetable for Sanders’ return to Boulder has not yet been announced.
This season will be interesting for Colorado, especially since Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders are no longer on the roster. Nonetheless, Coach Prime is very optimistic about his team’s outlook.
“We [are going to] do what we do. So it’s not really a new version of how we plan on executing. Offense is the offense, but we have certain guys with certain gifts, and we got to utilize those gifts,” Sanders said. “Shedeur, Travis and all those guys had certain gifts. So we got to utilize those gifts. JuJu [Lewis], [Kaidon] Salter, they’re different, man. We know what they’re good at, and we got to implement that in our offense so we can move the ball consistently. Defensively, the same way. I feel like we’re going to be strong up front. We’re going to force teams to throw the ball.”
Colorado will begin its 2025 season on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech.
