Alabama AD’s Shocking Call to End SEC Championship Era After Devastating Georgia Defeat
The Georgia Bulldogs are back-to-back SEC champions, but Georgia’s SEC championship wins did not benefit the Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff recently with Georgia losing in their first playoff game after both recent SEC title wins. Georgia’s most recent SEC championship was a 28-7 blowout win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In 2025, Georgia and coach Kirby Smart earned their first ever win over Alabama in an SEC championship after falling to the Crimson Tide in 2012, 2018, 2021 and 2023. The Bulldogs did not excel in the playoff, but the national championship-winning Indiana Hoosiers did win the Big Ten championship and did not appear to be impacted too much from playing Ohio State in the Big Ten championship.
