Alabama Breaks New Ground with Shocking GPA Announcement—What It Means for Students Revealed
You ever wonder what happens when a powerhouse football program decides to school its players on more than just touchdowns and tackles? Alabama’s Crimson Tide might still be finding their groove on the field under Kalen DeBoer’s watch, but in the classroom? Man, they’re absolutely crushing it. After setting a record GPA last fall, the Tide just broke their own record again, bumping their team average to an impressive 3.29 with over 100 players shining academically. Sure, last season’s 9-4 finish didn’t exactly light the world on fire — the worst since Nick Saban’s first year back in ’07 — but if you ask me, this emphasis on grades over glory might just be laying the groundwork for long-term success. Besides, isn’t it kinda refreshing to see the spotlight on future-proofing these athletes’ lives, especially when only a handful make it to the NFL? Now, all eyes are on DeBoer to translate that classroom dominance into wins on Saturdays. Curious how the Tide is balancing smarts and stats?
Alabama may not have performed up to expectations on-the-field in Kalen DeBoer’s first year in Tuscaloosa, but the Crimson Tide definitely took care of business in the classroom.
Per “The Game’s” Ryan C. Fowler, Alabama set the highest GPA in program history last fall with a team average of 3.24. And now the program just broke its own record with a total team GPA of 3.29, which included 103 players earning a GPA over 3.0.
Clearly DeBoer has put an emphasis on his players excelling in more than just athletics and that’s very commendable.

Attention to detail is paying off for this team and coaching staff.

Fans reacted to Bama’s GPA news to start the week.
“Athletes pay attention. Bama setting you up for life,” a user said.
“Love this 🤍,” another commented.
“They’re doing better than my son, & he doesn’t even have to go to workouts & practice,” a fan joked.
“Roll Tide!” another person exclaimed.
“This is great!” another user replied. “A rising tide lifts all ships.”
“We need W’s not A’s. JK This is good to hear. Just need a little humor today. Been a long day.”
“Yeah we’re going 7-5 this year,” another fan predicted.
“👏👏👏💪🐘.”
As much as we celebrate players’ on-field accomplishments, sometimes we forget how much further a good education can take them in their lives — especially for those that don’t make it to the NFL.
Now that the student part is taken care of though, it’s time for DeBoer to match that success on Saturdays.
Alabama went 9-4 last season, the school’s worst mark since Nick Saban’s 2007 debut (7-6) after taking the reigns from Mike Shula and interim coach Joe Kines.
