Xabi Alonso is acting on the advice of Carlo Ancelotti as he attempts to give Real Madrid greater balance through his in-game tactical changes.
Alonso’s side progressed to the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup with a 1-0 win over Juventus in Miami on Tuesday, with Gonzalo Garcia heading in a 54th-minute winner.
Madrid were far from comfortable in the first half, however, with Juventus only managing half as many shots (four to eight) but winning the expected goals battle (0.73 xG to 0.66).
