Unbreakable. “Even if Tom Brady showed up,” he says, “it’s me vs. me.” Bold, brash, maybe even a little delusional? Maybe. But isn’t that the fire every contender should have? The Indianapolis Colts‘ patience may be running out.

They added quarterback Daniel Jones early in the offseason, and it looked like they overpaid for someone who had been cut midway through a big-money contract.

That spoke volumes about their level of concern for Anthony Richardson.

The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft missed most of his rookie season with multiple injuries, and he looked erratic and out of sorts in his second year.

Nevertheless, he hasn’t allowed any of that to break his spirit.

Asked for his thoughts on the Colts’ quarterback competition, Richardson claimed that he would choose himself over anybody else.

“Even if they brought Tom Brady in here, he’s the greatest, but I’d just have to work and try to beat him out. It’s a me vs. me type of thing,” Richardson said, via Dov Kleiman.

That’s the mindset you want to hear from every player, so you can’t blame him for being confident.

Then again, he will have to do a lot more to prove that he belongs in the league.

He was the least accurate passer in the game last season, completing just 47.7 percent of his passes and throwing eight touchdowns against 12 interceptions.

On top of that, he rubbed plenty of people the wrong way when he chose to tap out of a play because he was tired.

Richardson entered the NFL with some question marks because of his lack of college experience, but his athleticism, size, speed and power were just too enticing.

It’s too early to give up on him, but it looks like the Colts won’t give him many more opportunities to prove that he has what it takes.
