Auburn Unveils Surprising Uniform Combo for Saturday’s Showdown Against South Alabama—Fans Can’t Wait to See It!

When you think of Auburn football, you probably picture those classic navy blue jerseys dominating the home turf—and white on the road, sharp and simple, with matching white pants and helmets to seal the deal. That’s been their signature look, no doubt. But guess what? This Saturday’s homecoming game against South Alabama is breaking the mold in a way that might just have fans doing a double take at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Instead of their usual home blues, Auburn is dusting off the road “storm trooper” whites—yes, helmets, facemasks, jerseys, and pants all in pristine white—for an outfit that’s as rare as it is striking. According to the eagle-eyed uniform historian Clint Richardson, Auburn’s trotting out the white jerseys at home is something that’s happened just a handful of times since the ‘60s. The last time? A solid 37-20 win over Tennessee-Martin back in 2008. It’s a bold move, and with Auburn undefeated and ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll heading into this clash, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Plus, it’s their first-ever bout with South Alabama and the first home game against an in-state FBS opponent in nearly three decades. This Saturday isn’t just a game; it’s a statement. LEARN MORE

When it comes to uniforms, Auburn football typically follows the traditional route of wearing navy blue jerseys at home, white jerseys on the road, accompanied by a matching combination of white pants and white helmets.

However, for Saturday’s homecoming game against the South Alabama Jaguars, they will enter the field with a unique combination rarely worn in front of the home crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Bryan Matthews of Rivals reports that Auburn will wear its familiar road “storm trooper” uniforms this Saturday against South Alabama. The Tigers will wear white helmets with white facemasks, white jerseys, and white pants. According to data from Auburn uniform historian Clint Richardson, Auburn has worn white jerseys at home twice since 2007, and four times since 1965. Most recently, the Tigers wore white jerseys in their 2008 game against Tennessee-Martin, a game the Tigers won, 37-20.

Auburn battles South Alabama on Saturday for the first time in school history. Saturday will also mark the first time Auburn has faced an in-state school from the FBS level since playing UAB in 1996, which was then an FBS Independent. Auburn is 2-0 after picking up convincing wins over Baylor and Ball State to open the season, and is in the top 25 of the AP Poll for the first time since 2021, checking in at No. 24 this week. South Alabama is 1-1 after dropping a heartbreaker to Tulane last weekend.

The Tigers and Jaguars will kick off Saturday at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network, live from Jordan-Hare Stadium.
