Buffalo Sabres on the Brink: Is Kevyn Adams Facing an Unexpected Exit?
Buffalo Sabres fans, hold on to your hats — there’s been quite a stir brewing behind the scenes as whispers of Kevyn Adams’ tenure as the team’s general manager grow louder by the day. Word from three separate inside sources hints that the Sabres’ brass is seriously eyeing a shakeup at the top, with Adams’ future now wrapped in uncertainty. The team’s current road trip wraps up soon in Seattle, and it seems the big call on Adams won’t come until they touch down back in Buffalo. After steering the ship for over five years, and with the team languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, it’s no surprise the pressure has reached a boiling point. Meanwhile, Jarmo Kekalainen — a seasoned hand who stepped in as senior advisor just last May — is the natural candidate to fill any potential void, though he’s presently overseas handling personal matters. And let’s not forget the ticking clock before the trade deadline and the looming contract choices on key players like Alex Tuch and Josh Doan — whoever takes the reins will face a whirlwind. Curious to dive deeper into the unfolding saga? LEARN MORE.
Are Kevyn Adams‘ days as the Buffalo Sabres GM numbered?
Matthew Fairburn and Tim Graham of The Athletic: Three sources have said that there have been internal conversations about the Buffalo Sabres firing GM Kevyn Adams. The Sabres are in Seattle and will return to Buffalo on Monday.
Two sources said that the final decision won’t be made until they are home from the road trip. A team spokesperson wouldn’t comment, and Adams didn’t respond to a text message.
Adams has been the Sabres GM for the past five and a half seasons and has a year left on his contract. The Sabres haven’t been to the playoffs in the past 14 seasons and are sitting last in the Eastern Conference.

Jarmo Kekalainen joined the Sabres last May as a senior advisor and is the logical person to take over full-time or as an interim GM. Kekalainen is currently back in Finland dealing with a personal matter.
Whoever steps in will have to make a decision before the trade deadline on pending UFA Alex Tuch. Pending RFA to deal with in the offseason are Josh Doan, Zach Benson and Michael Kesselring.

I don’t have anything solid here, but I wanted to address it in the sense that there’s a lot of noise. They finish their road trip on Sunday night, tomorrow night in Seattle, and we’ll see what happens when Buffalo gets back. Well, there’s a lot of noise there, but we’ll see if there’s anything concrete.”
