Mejia said he is excited about the opportunity to rebuild a Colorado City team, which has combined for a 5-25 record over the last three seasons. The Wolves will adjust their offense to a gap scheme, adding to the quick passing attack Mejia added last season. Mejia said he believes the offensive line is the biggest strength of this year’s team with all five starters returning, specifically pointing to Andrew Goodney, Aiden Wooddell, Kenny Hearin and Curtis Lindsay.Week 11 – Colorado City at Sonora, 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7

What to know

Week 1 – Seymour at Colorado City, 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29

The Wolves had an impressive string of teams from 2008-2018, recording four seasons with double-digit wins, including an undefeated regular season in 2010. Like many teams in the area, dwindling enrollment numbers combined with COVID-19 heavily impacted the football program.Week 4 – Colorado City at San Angelo Grape Creek, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19

The Wolves will turn to sophomore quarterback Ace Mejia — Daniel Mejia’s son — to be this year’s signal caller, highlighting his familiarity with the quarterback position and offensive scheme. They return star linebacker Mikell Martinez, who recorded over 100 tackles last season, and look to feature him on offense more this year.

Coach Daniel Mejia on the 2025 season

Week 3 – Colorado City at Tahoka, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12

2025 schedule

The Wolves enter the 2025 season with coach Daniel Mejia taking over for Monty Leaf, who moved to administration after three seasons as the head football coach and athletic director. This is Mejia’s second season with Colorado City after being the offensive coordinator last year. He was previously the offensive coordinator at Miles and brings a total of 28 years of coaching experience to the Wolves.Week 2 – Colorado City at McCamey, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5Week 5 – Bangs at Colorado City, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 262025 record: 2-8, 0-5District: 3-2A DIMost recent district championship: 2017Head coach: Daniel MejiaAugust is rolling in, and with it comes that electric buzz of high school football firing up across West Texas. This season, I’m putting Colorado City’s Wolves squarely under the microscope — a team in the thick of a rebuilding phase but brimming with some solid promise under the stewardship of Coach Daniel Mejia. Taking the reins in his sophomore year as head coach after a stint as offensive coordinator, Mejia’s bringing nearly three decades of gridiron wisdom to a program eager to claw back into contention. From the return of a rock-solid offensive line to the rise of sophomore QB Ace Mejia, the Wolves are stitching together a new identity in a tough 3-2A Division I district. They’ve had their share of highs and lows over the years, but this squad and its new leadership are hungry, hopeful, and ready to roll come August’s kickoff. Last year, we had to teach a wide receiver how to be a quarterback, and he did the best he could, but he had never actually been a quarterback. And we didn’t have a quarterback who had consistently coached as a quarterback in the program, so that really hurt. We have a lot of skill guys coming back that have played with each other and grew up here, and when I moved in, they adapted to the new system well … We’re young, but we’re excited.”Week 9 – Colorado City at Ozona, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24
