Miami had a three-run rally in the 8th and 9th innings to upset the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-4. Cleveland All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase blew a save, but the Guardians still beat the Kansas City Royals 7-4 in extra innings. Cincy closer Ian Gibaut also blew a save, giving up four runs in the top of the 9th, and the Reds lost to the San Francisco Giants 6-4.Â
Friday, I’m gambling on the Athletics (0-1) at Seattle Mariners (1-0) game. Seattle won the season opener 4-2 thanks to a three-run rally in the bottom of the 8th inning. My best bet to win the 2025 AL Cy Young, Mariners RHP Logan Gilbert, pitched 7.0 innings with 1 ER (a solo home run), 8 K’s and no walks. Well, spoiler alert: I’m taking my best bet to win the AL West to even the series Friday.Â
